Freedom Quilt Project
4th Grade students learned African American Spirituals and assembled a Freedom Quilt to show a deeper understanding of the Freedom Quilts' purpose along with the messages that each song and quilt block represented. Each child constructed their own quilt square(s) to add to the quilt, as well as a writing sample to describe their chosen pattern and the meaning behind their choice.
