Left inside	Poor Personal note to character included: Discusses topic completely, makes sense, signed by student, and is 5-7 sentences.	Good Personal note to character doesn't cover event in the story, is confusing in some way, and is less than 40 words.	Excellent Personal note to character missing or incomplete.
Right inside	Poor The greeting is included, readable, and makes sense or has a connection to the personal note.	Good The greeting is included but is not readable or neat, or the greeting does not make sense or have a connection to the personal note.	Excellent The greeting is not included and/or it does not make sense or have a connection to the personal note.
