Letter to a Character Letter to a Character Students write a letter to a character in their novel.Each letter should contain all parts of a letter. Each student needs to include a question about a major conflict in the story and an imagined response from them. Conventions	Poor An attempt at proper mechanics and converntions is made.	Average Spelling,punctuation, grammar and usuage have fewer than 6 errors.	Good Spelling,punctuation, grammar and usuage have fewer than 4-5 errors.	Excellent Spelling,punctuation, grammar and usuage have fewer than 3 errors.	Weight x4
Content	Poor No attempt at a question to the character or answering a question posed to the character.	Average Letter includes only a personal connection and question, but no answer is attempted.	Good Letter includes a personal connection and a question with an attempt at support and elaboration.	Excellent Letter includes a personal connection and question with a superior amount of support and elaboration in the imagined response.	Weight x4
Background of question	Poor No background is given to assist the audience in understanding the question asked of the character.	Average Very little background is given to assist the audience in understanding the question asked of the character.	Good Some background is given to assist the audience in understanding the question asked of the character, but some confusion exists.	Excellent Enough background is given to assist the audience in understanding the question asked of the character.	Weight x4
