Tape Two Transcript & Personal Assessment Tape One Transcript & Personal Assessment Students will tape themselves conducting a ten minute interview based upon their assigned case study with a fellow student. Students will complete a transcript and personal assessment of their demonstration of the skills in Chapters 1-3 of the text. Interviewing Skills Chs 1-4	Poor Student demonstrated less than four of the identified skills in the first tape.	Fair Student demonstrated at least four of the skills outlined in the first tape.	Good Student demonstrated at least seven of the following skills in his/her tape: eye contact, vocal warmth and interest, verbal tracking, attentive/authentic body language, navigating client away from irrelevant topics, appropriate use of silence, informed consent, cultural influences, and dimensions of self.
Chapters 5 & 6 Skills	Poor Student demonstrates less than three of the five skills in Chapters 5 & 6 in his/her tape.	Fair Student demonstrates at least three of the five skills in Chapters 5 & 6 in his/her tape.	Good Student demonstrates four of the five following skills found in Chapters 5 & 6 of the text: encouraging statements, paraphrasing, summarizing, reflection of feeling, and acknowledgement of both verbal and non-verbal feelings in his/her tape.
Chapters 7 & 8 Skills	Poor Student demonstrates less than three of the six skills in Chapters 7 & 8.	Fair Student demonstrates at least three but less than five of the skills in Chapters 7 & 8.	Good Student demonstrates five of the six following skills in Chapters 7 & 8 of the text: empathic understanding, decisional counseling, five-stage interviewing model, identify discrepancies/incongruencies, confrontation, and evaluate change.
Chapters 9 & 10 Skills	Poor Student demonstrates less than two of the skills in Chapters 9 & 10.	Fair Student demonstrates two of the skills in Chapters 9 & 10.	Good Student demonstrates three of the four following skills in Chapters 9 & 10 of the text: focusing the interview, eliciting meaning, reflection of meaning, and interpretation/reframing.
Personal Assessment/Transcript	Poor Student did not turn in a complete transcript, tape, AND a personal assessment.	Fair Student turned in a complete transcript with the tape but did not identify both aspects of the personal assessment.	Good Student turned in complete transcript with the tape, complete with a personal assessment of skills demonstrated in the interview and areas of improvement in the interview based upon Chapters 1-10.
