Problem-Solving Approach 50 % Explicit demonstration of logical approach from problem definition to solution.	Poor Does not understand how to begin the problem. Lists a few equations, but does not display understanding of how to utilize them to achieve a correct final solution.	Fair Identifies desired output. Identifies given information. May not make all necessary simplifying assumptions. Lists one or two key equations.	Good Identifies most of the desired output and given information. Makes necessary simplifying assumptions. Lists all required equations.	Excellent Identifies desired output and given information. Makes necessary simplifying assumptions. Lists all required equations in a logical sequence.
Calculations 25 % Determination of analytical solution with proper labels	Poor Does not have any calculations or has many errors.	Fair Makes more than two errors. May not include units with answer.
