Participation	Needs Work The student does not complete much of the individual work( one important note per page) & a 5 sentence response per chapter/assigned section, or participate in group discussion.	Good The student completes many but not all of the requirements (one important note per page) & a 5 sentence response per chapter/assigned section, and often but not consistently participates in group discussions.	Excellent The student completes individual work ( one important note per page) & a 5 sentence response per chapter/assigned section,and consistently participates in discussions.
Job Completion	Needs Work The student does not complete his/her job more than 50% of the time.	Good The student completes his/her job. (les than 90% but more than 50%)	Excellent The student completes his/her job at least 90% of the time.
Independent Work Time	Needs Work The student does not use this time wisely and is unprepared for Lit. Circles meetings.	Good The student uses this time to work on his/her work but does not complete it. Time management needs work.	Excellent The student completes his/her work in the allotted about of time.
Comprehension	Needs Work Student cannot answer questions adequately about the assigned reading.	Good Student can answer questions with some understanding of the reading.	Excellent Student grasps what is going on in the assigned readings. Student can answer all questions from teacher and group members
