	Excellent 20 pts	Average 10 pts	Poor 5 pts
Research	Excellent Student has done a lot of research and proves point clearly and effectively. There was specific mention to the role of the indigenous people within today's Hispanic societies.	Average Student has done some research, but not enough to prove a point. One or all explanations of indigenous culture (history, language etc) were missing or lacking in depth.	Poor Student has not done sufficient research and presents findings on topic poorly.
Organization/Format	Excellent Paper is well organized and very consistent. Contains introduction, transition sentences, organized paragraphs, and a conclusion.	Average There is some organization, but it is not consistent. There is an introduction and conclusion, but no clear pattern to the body of the paper.	Poor There is no sense of organization in this paper.
Grammar	Excellent Student's grammar is great, and very well written. There are minimal grammatical errors.	Average Student's grammar, punctuation, and spelling are okay, but can use direction and proof reading.	Poor Student has poor grammar in this paper with many careless spelling and punctuation errors.
Focus	Excellent The focus of the paper is present and clear throughout. Student uses topic sentences and details.	Average The focus of the paper is present, yet hard to identify clearly.	Poor The focus of the paper is not present.
Citation	Excellent Student has successfully cited sources properly and includes all resources.	Average Student has included citation for their research, but has failed to do so properly.	Poor Student has little or no citing of any research done.
