Meets/Exceeds Standards

The writer supports his/her opinion of the character with a variety of relevant and effective examples/paraphrases/ quotes from the story.
Almost Meets Standards

The writer's support of his/her opinion contains some relevant/effective examples; the details could be more descriptive.
Fails to Meet Standards

The writer doesn't use effective/relevant phrases to support his/her opinion; no specific examples from text.
Conclusion

Meets/Exceeds Standards

The writer wraps up his/her paper with a great restatement of opinion and support along with an effective lasting impression.
Almost Meets Standards

The writer's conclusion contents merely restate opinion. Does not make a final statement about character that goes beyond what has already been presented.

The writer failed to include a conclusion or conclusion is not logical based on content in rest of the paper.
