The student does not make a mistake. He or she can demonstrate the choreography cleanly and clearly.
Good

The student corrects the mistake as they make it, without falling behind on the steps or beat.
On level

The student tries to correct a mistake but makes another mistake. He or she forgets the sequence, or misses steps.
Moderate

The student does not notice any mistakes. He or she has forgotten the sequence, or forgotten steps.
Basic

The student cannot demonstrate the sequence or steps.
Rhythm

Exceeds Expectaions

The student keeps time with the music the whole time.
Good

The student moves to a consistent beat, but not on the right time.
On level

The student is on the beat most of the time, can correct it when erratic.
Moderate

The student is keeping an inconsistent beat.
Basic

The student is dancing over the music and is never aware of the beat; movements are erratically timed.
Style

Exceeds Expectaions

The student is immersed into the steps and or the music with a great deal of energy and focus. They smile and make different facial expressions the whole time.
Good

The student is able to convey a sense of their own interpretation of the music through dancing. They smile at the audience.
On level

The student has moments where they appear comfortable enough to add in some style. They smile once or twice.
Moderate

The student adds minimal style to the phrasing. They never smile.
Basic

The student is looking at other dancers or own feet as they perform the steps. There is no connection with the audience. They never smile.
Technical Skill

Exceeds Expectaions

Dancer performs with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement, space and momentum.
Good

Dancer performs with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in body awareness, space, or momentum.
On level

Dancer performs with some understanding of technical elements, i.e. footwork, quality of movements, body positions, etc.
Moderate

Although he or she remembers the progression, the dancer pays little attention to how technical elements are done or executed across the floor.
Basic

The dancer demonstrates little to no technique. The dancer is unaware of their body placement or position.
