Examples are present but include minimal detail that would make them appealing or useful to the reader. Some may not clearly illustrate the thesis. Some may not be interesting or contain vivid details.
Proficient
Examples are present and include sufficient detail to make them interesting or useful to the reader. They clearly illustrate the thesis. They are interesting and contain vivid details.
Excellent
Examples are extremely well developed. They clearly illustrate the thesis. They are exceptionally interesting and contain vivid details. They are useful to the reader.
Article Reference
Poor
There is not reference to the article.
Emerging
There may be a reference to the article but it is not appropriate or not cited and embedded correctly. It may not add to or support the content in a meaningful way.
Proficient
There is a solid reference to the article that is embedded and cited in correct MLA format, but it is not sophisticated.
Excellent
There is a solid reference to the article. It is sophisticatetly embedded and cited in correct MLA format. It clearly shows the writer is engaging with the text.
Logical Order
Poor
The examples within the paragraphs and/or throughout the paper are not arranged in a logical order.
Emerging
The examples within the paragraphs and/or throughout the paper are generally arranged in a logical order, though some ideas may not be in an effective order.
Proficient
The examples within the paragraphs and/or throughout the paper are arranged in a logical order but do not qualify as excellent.
Excellent
The examples within the paragraphs and/or throughout the paper are arranged in a logical and effective order.
Grammar and Mechanics
