Understanding of Concepts

UNDERSTAND: Demonstrate understanding of facts and ideas by organizing, comparing, translating, interpreting, giving descriptions, and stating main ideas.

Demonstrates little or no understanding of concept

Demonstrates some understanding of concepts but has obvious gaps in comprehension

Computation

APPLY: Solve problems to new situations by applying acquired knowledge, facts, techniques and rules in a different way.

Poor

Computation is incorrect, does not lead to correct answer
Good

Computation may be somewhat correct but ultimate answer remains incorrect
Great

Computation is mostly correct.
Exceptional

Computation is correct. No mistakes, all work shown.
Strategy Usage

ANALYZE: Examine and break information into parts by identifying motives or causes. Make inferences and find evidence to support generalizations.

Uses no appropriate strategy
Good

Uses somewhat appropriate strategy
Great

Uses appropriate strategy with most steps
Exceptional

Uses appropriate stragegy leading to correct answer(s)
Written Explanation

EVALUATE: Present and justify opinions by substantiating information, validity of ideas, or quality of work based on a set of criteria.

Poor

No written explanation or explanation is unclear.
Good

Written explanation is sparse. Not all explanations are clear. Lack of proper concept vocabulary/terms.
Great

Written explanation is satisfactory. Not all concept vocabulary/terms may be used appropriately.
Exceptional

Explanation is written clearly and exempelery. Concept terms/vocabulary used are appropriate.
