Mechanics and structure	Level 1 Many errors, little sentence structure; hard/ impossible to understand due to grammar mistakes.	Level 2 Few complex sentences. Some errors which do hinder communication; occasional complex sentences.	Level 3 Good; few errors; several complex sentences.	Level 4 Excellent; very few or no errors; many complex sentences.
Vocabulary and content	Level 1 Does not incorporate at least 5 vocabulary words and/or song is off topic.	Level 2 Limited to basic words and phrases; often inaccurate use of words and phrases.	Level 3 functional; fails to communicate complete meaning. Topic is not clear and/or the song does not consistently remain on topic.
