Figurative Language Poster Figurative Language Poster These are posters that illustrate the students' understanding of figurative language: metaphor, simile, idiom, personification, onomatopoeia, allusion, hyperbole and alliteration. Content	Needs Improvement Not all eight figures of speech terms are identified and/or definition(s) is missing.	Good The required eight figures of speech terms are identified and have a definition for each. Each term has a written example sentence and illustration. (Examples, illustrations and/or definitions may need more details)	Excellent The required eight figures of speech terms have been identified with a definition, sentence example of each, and ALL pictures, videos, and/or music align with the example to explain its meaning further.
Accuracy	Needs Improvement More than two examples of figurative language are used incorrectly or do not match the correct figure of speech. Elements are missing from poster: Terms, definitions, example sentence and/or image	Good One-two examples are incorrect or do not match the figure of speech. Some images do not add meaning and/or align with example sentence for each term.	Excellent ALL examples are accurate and match the correct figure of speech. ALL illustrations help the viewer understand the content and add meaning to each figurative language example.
Mechanics	Needs Improvement Several spelling, punctuation, and/or capitalization errors are present and hinder the viewer's understanding of the content. Appearance	Needs Improvement Poster appears rushed for completion; items are disorganized on page, lack of color or consistent color (boring), items on poster are hard to see or poster is hard to understand .	Good Poster appears somewhat unbalanced due to lack of content, very small writing/drawing, terms are not bold and are hard to identify. Too much background space shows.	Excellent Content is spaced so it covers the majority of the poster in a balanced manner. Color is used and compliments the appearance. Terms are BOLD and easy to identify. Illustrations enhance the poster's content.
