Wet on Wet technique
Poor
Too much control. Looks painted rather than watercolored.
Fair
First layer is light to allow layering and build up. Various colors are experimented with. Evidence of variation of color thickness. Could be used in more areas.
Good
First layer is light to allow layering and build up. Various colors are experimented with. Evidence of variation of color thickness. Evidence of Gradients, pooling colors for effects. Loose watercolor techniques.
Dry technique
Poor
Details are too regular and rigid. Seems painted. Needs more variation of color.
Fair
Details are a little predictable at time. Most details are unpredictable and natural looking. Most etails add to the texture of the feather. Second coat uses color a little more richly. Color might need some more variations. Details don't appear to rigid.
Good
Details are unpredictable and natural looking. Details add to the texture of the feather. Second coat uses color a little more richly. There is color variation in colors used. Details don't appear to rigid and are natural.
Layering
Poor
Lack of layering. Feathers over controlled and painted. Process not demonstrated above.
Fair
You started transparently and add a little more color as you went. You then added dry techniques. You might struggle making it look unified at times.
Good
Layering doesn't look seperately done. It has unity in the way it was layered.
Challenge / Effort
Poor
Stage fright or lack of effort. I need to put myself out there more. Needing elaboration, exploration, to become more original.
Fair
Slight overcontrol of the watercolor too soon. Took some risks but played it safe with results that were predictable. Did 3 feathers that showed: fluency - many ideas explored perhaps more needed; flexibility - perhaps more different types of approaches or needing more elaboration of detail. They appear to be original but need more behind the scene experiments.
Good
Trusted the process and played. Created 3 Feathers. Fluency - I came up with many ideas. Flexibility - I came up with many different approaches. Elaboration - I came up with many ways to add supportive details. Originality was achieved. Took risks and experimented with watercolor.
