	Excellent 4 pts	Good 3 pts	Poor 1 pts
Introduction	Excellent 1st paragraph: includes title of the book, author, clearly stated main idea including who/what the story is about and what about them.	Good 1st paragraph: includes the book title, and author, with a brief description.	Poor 1st paragraph: no title and/or author, minimal description or too much plot.
Persuasive	Excellent Included details from the book to show why you liked this book. Told why someone should read the book in a very convincing way.	Good Told why you liked the book with a few details. Told why someone should read the book, but could have been more convincing.	Poor Did not use specific details to tell why you liked this book. Was not convincing about why someone should read it.
Grammar/Mechanics	Excellent Book review has been edited and the final copy contains very few errors in puntuation, spelling, and grammar.	Good Book review contains 5-10 errors in punctuation, spelling, and grammar.	Poor Book review contains between 10-15 errors in punctuation, spelling, and grammar. More effort could have been put into proofreading.
