Name and Date	Poor No name or only first name is written somewhere on paper.	Fair Partial name and date are in upper right hand corner.	Good Full Name and Date are correctly written in upper right hand corner.
Sentences	Poor Words are written but are not in sentence form. There is no attempt to express a complete thought. Sentences are not properly placed on the writing line and are not legible.	Fair 1 sentence is written and expresses or attempts to express a complete thought. There is an attempt to write two sentences but one or both do not express a complete thought. Sentences are partially placed correctly on the writing line and are partially legible.	Good Two are more simple or complex sentences are written and express a complete thought. Sentences are properly placed on the writing line and legible.
capitalization	Poor There is no or very few letters properly capitalized. This includes the beginning of a sentences, names, and places.	Fair There is partial capitalization (half or more). This includes the beginning of sentences, names, and places.	Good All sentences begin with a capital letter. All names and places are capitalized.
