	EXCELLENT 5 pts	GOOD 4 pts	FAIR 3 pts	POOR 2 pts	Unacceptable 1 pts
Response	EXCELLENT The response is very specific to the task; all prompts are addressed and clearly stated and supported.	GOOD The response refers to the task; major points are made, but only somewhat supported.	FAIR The response refers to an unspecified task; answer does not clearly respond.	POOR The response does not specify the task; confusion on connection to prompt and answer.	Unacceptable The response is off task, and there is no connection to the prompt.
Writing form	EXCELLENT Writing is fluent and lively. Answer is concise and to the point, in complete sentences and correct grammar.	GOOD Writing is fluent but not interesting; grammar is mostly accurate.	FAIR There may or may not be a conclusion or an opinion.	POOR Any conclusion or opinion offered may be judged to be off-task.	Unacceptable Conclusion or opinion does not make sense.
Structure Paragraph	EXCELLENT Student has an interesting topic sentence. Plenty of details, and a great closing sentence.	GOOD Student has a topc sentence. Good details and a good closing sentence.	FAIR Student has a topic sentence, adequate details and a closing sentence.	POOR Student has no topic sentence, very few details and a weak closing sentence	Unacceptable Student has no topic sentence, details or closing sentence.
