Proportion and Scale

Use of atmospheric perspective with an emphasis on proportion and scale.

Poor

Size relationship of objects drawn are incorrect in relation to objects drawn from near to far. Background is not clearly distinguished.
Fair

Size relationship of objects drawn are partially correct in relation to objects drawn near to far, but use of fore, middle, and background unclear.
Good

Size relationship relationship of objects drawn largest (foreground) to smaller (middleground) to smallest (background) is
clear and well defined, but main character could of been larger.
Excellent

Size relationship of objects is in use of fore, middle, and background with a clear and distinct
emphasis on the main character being in the foreground. All three ground levels are clear and apparent.
Hatching Technique R-pencil

Shading with the use of regular pencil showing a value scale of 1-10.

Poor

Hatching technique is not used. Regular pencil used to color in objects. There are no value changes.
Fair

Hatching technique attempted but value scale is not clear or not used.
Good

Hatching technique is visibly used with a good use of the value scale of 1-10. Student needs to work on blending value steps together.
Excellent

Hatching technique is clearly shown with an evident understanding of the 1-10 value scale. The student uses blending to transition the steps.
Hatching Technique C-pencils

Shading with the use of colored pencils showing a value scale of 1-10.

Poor

Hatching technique is not used. Colored pencils are used to color in objects. There is no value changes.
Fair

Hatching technique is attempted but value scale is not clear or not used.
Good

Hatching technique is visibly used with a good use of the value scale of 1-10. Student needs to work on blending value steps together.
Excellent

Hatching technique with colored pencil is clearly shown with an evident understanding of the 1-10 value scale. The student uses blending to transition value steps. Two or more color values are used.
Pointillism Technique

Shading with the use of a fine point marker showing a value scale of 1-10.

Poor

Pointillism technique was attempted with no use of the 1-10 value scale. Dots are randomly placed throughout the picture plane.
Fair

Pointillism technique and value scale of 1-10 was attempted, but apparent student does not have a clear understanding on use of the scale.
Good

Pointillism technique and value scale of 1-10 are used with clear understanding of how to apply the technique from 1 (closest to light) to 10 ( farthest away from light source). Lines copied over once.
Excellent

Pointillism technique and value scale of 1-10 are clearly used with additional technique of thickening lines.
Your Choice Of:

Use of watercolor pencil or markers showing darker values in foreground and lighter values in the background

Poor

Watercolor pencil or marker used with no attempt of creating a dark to light atmospheric value scale.
Fair

Watercolor pencils or marker are used with an attempt to create
an atmospheric value scale of dark foreground and light, background.
Good

Watercolor pencils or markers are used with a clear understanding of atmospheric perspective.
Excellent

Watercolor pencils or markers are used with a clear understanding of atmospheric perspective.
Additional detail given as lines and textures.
