Set Up	Not Very Good Any two or more is not performed.	Pretty Good Any one of these is not performed.	Excellent Student ensures that electrical cords and vacuum hoses are out of the way. The student is wearing safety glasses and ensures that all around are as well. The student is able to adjust the miter scale and the bevel scale easily and accurately. The student positions the saw blade on the waste side of the line and performs a small test cut.
During the Cut	Not Very Good Any two or more is not performed.	Pretty Good Any one of these is not performed.	Excellent Student holds the piece securely against the fence. Student pulls the saw out, engages the trigger switch, lowers the blade, and pushes the saw all the way through the material. Student keeps hands at least 6 inches away from the blade at all times.
After the Cut	Not Very Good Any two or more is not performed.	Pretty Good Any one of these is not performed.	Excellent The student holds the saw in the down position until the blade has come to a complete stop. The student removes scraps from the cutting zone. When finished, the student locks the saw in the down position.
The Cut Itself	Not Very Good Any two or more is not performed.	Pretty Good Any one of these is not performed.	Excellent Student cuts the line off perfectly with the blade on the waste side of the cut line. Both the bevel and the miter angles match up perfectly.
