	Poor 10 pts	Fair 15 pts	Good 20 pts	Great 25 pts
Ideas/Support Thesis Statement/Supporting Body Sentences/Relevance	Poor Student does not have a thesis statement and body sentences are random and irrelevant.	Fair Student has a thesis statement that does not fully explain the topic and body sentences are vague.	Good Student has a thesis statement and at least four body sentences which help to support the thesis statement.	Great Student has a well constructed thesis statement and over four excellent body sentences that clarify the thesis statement fully.
Organization Introduction/Body/Conclusion	Poor Lacks any form of organization.	Fair Has all three integral parts of a paragraph, but the parts are not organized practically.	Good Sentences are organized in correct order.	Great Sentences are organized in correct order with appropriate transitions.
Mechanics Grammar/Word Choice/Formatting	Poor Lack of control of grammar and writing conventions. Handwritten	Fair More than 5 grammatical errors or poor choices in word usage. Typed	Good 1-2 Grammatical errors or poor choices in word usage. Typed	Great No grammatical or word choice errors. Typed
Completion Prewriting/Outline/Rough Draft/ Final Draft	Poor Lacks three or more portions of the assignment	Fair Lacks 1-2 portions of the assignment	Good Rough draft is without "markings," but all portions are present.	Great All portions are complete.
