Mechanics	Accomplished Students have no spelling errors, and the use of stanzas to represent the song lyrics is clear. The student's writing is well written.	Proficient Student has very few mistakes. Stanzas are written but not with a distinct pattern.	Needs Improvement Student writing is unclear, and filled with fragments and spelling mistakes. The writing is not broken into stanzas.
Use of Figurative Language	Accomplished The student uses imagery, repetition, and other figurative languages to give a voice and a clear understanding of what the writer is trying to convey. The repetition conveys the theme. The imagery allows for a descriptive picture to be painted with the use of words.	Proficient The student uses repetition to convey his theme through the use of some figurative language. The imagery is non-descriptive and not worded in a way to draw the reader into the story.	Needs Improvement There is the use of figurative language but their is not the use of repetition in the writing. The theme of the writing is unclear because the repetition in the song lyrics is not stated.
Formatting	Accomplished The student types his final draft using Times New Roman, Font Size 12 and has a heading and a title of his song lyrics.	Proficient The student types his final draft but does not give a title to his writing and/or use the proper font or size.	Needs Improvement The student does not type his final piece but turns in a hand-written piece as his final copy.
