Level 3 Sight-reading Assessment FFMHS FFMHS Chorus-Sight Singing Assessment 4th-12th graders will sing and record a sight reading exercise during class. Each student must pass off to level 4 by the end of the current quarter. In order to do this, the student must earn a score of 2.93 (85) This will be counted as a summative assessment. Sightreading: Formative Assessment

Steady Beat	1 Student is NOT ABLE to sing with a steady beat at this time. There are 7 or more steady beat mistakes.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings with a steady beat. There are no more than 4-6 steady beat mistakes.	3 Student MOSTLY sings with a steady beat. There are no more than 1-3 steady beat mistakes.	4 Student ALWAYS sings with a steady beat. It is smooth and free of hesitations or pauses in the beat.
Rhythm	1 Student is NOT ABLE to sing rhythms accurately at this time. There were 7 or more rhythm mistakes.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings the rhythms accurately. There are no more than 4-6 rhythmic mistakes.	3 Student MOSTLY sings the rhythms accurately. There are no more than 1-3 rhythmic mistakes.	4 Student ALWAYS sings the rhythms accurately. There are no rhythmic mistakes.
Syllable recognition	1 Student is not able to sing the correct do, mi and sol pitches consistently. There are 7 or more syllable mistakes.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings the correct do, mi and sol syllables. There are 4-6 syllable mistakes.	3 Student MOSTLY sings the correct do, mi and sol syllables. There are 1-3 syllable mistakes.	4 Student ALWAYS sings the correct do, mi and sol syllables. There are NO mistakes in syllable recognition.
Pitch recognition	1 Student is NOT ABLE to sing the correct do, mi, sol and high do pitches at this time.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings the correct pitches. There are no more than 4-6 pitch mistakes.	3 Student MOSTLY sings the correct pitches. There are no more than 1-3 pitch mistakes.	4 Student ALWAYS sings the correct pitches and the pitches are ALWAYS sung in tune.
