Content	Incomplete There is no sign of any content knowledge.	Poor Little connection is shown to prove the author has any knowledge of the topic.	Fair The author has shown some connection to content knowledge within the writing.	Good The paper shows that the author knows what they are talking about enough to explain it to someone else.	Excellent It is clear that the student has a high grasp of knowledge on the content area.
Neatness/Organization	Incomplete The paper is a mess.	Poor there is little organization. The paper has weak amounts of neatness.	Fair The paper shows thought, may be slightly unorganized and may jump around topically.	Good The paper is well thought out, organized and has a consistent flow throughout.	Excellent The paper is well thought out, organized and has a consistent flow throughout. A five paragraph model is even used.
Grammar/Spelling	Incomplete There are too many grammar/spelling mistakes to count	Poor There are less than 10 grammar/spelling mistakes.	Fair There are less than 5 grammar/spelling mistakes.	Good There are one or two grammar/spelling mistakes.	Excellent There are no grammar/spelling mistakes.
Length	Incomplete The Essay is either incomplete or only a couple of sentences	Poor The Essay is under a half page.	Fair The Essay is closer to a half page, but over this mark.	Good The Essay is slightly under one page	Excellent The Essay is right at one page.
