Writer provides uneven elaboration and expression with dialogue and details. Partial use of sensory and concrete language.
Poor
Writer provides minimal elaboration providing few or no details, dialogue, or description. There is little use of language and has little sense of purpose.
Grammar/ Conventions
Great
Good variety in sentence structure, correct punctuation, capitalization, and spelling, and an excellent use of word choice and variety. Three or less errors made.
Good
Good variety in sentence structure, few mistakes in punctuation, capitalization, or spelling, and has a great use of word choice and variety. Five or less errors made.
Average
Somewhat same sentence structure, some noticeable mistakes in punctuation, capitalization or spelling that slightly puts off the story, and has a solid use of word choice and variety. Eight or more errors made.
