Handscape Observational hand drawing Students will study their own hand and photos, practicing drawing hands. Then they will incorporate a hand drawing and turn it into a surrealist landscape. Composition	Fair The hand/objects do not fill the page completely. Objects are placed randomly - feels haphazard. The composition has not been considered.	Good Hand and objects fill the page completely. Idea for the design is good.	Excellent The design incorporates at least one hand within a landscape in a unique way. The space is used up well and balanced throughout.
Proportion and Space	Fair Few of the objects are proportionally correct from height to width. There is no overlapping or consideration of negative spaces. It is evident that the hand/objects were not rendered by direct observation.	Good Most of the objects are proportionally correct from height to width. There is some overlapping of objects and reference to negative spaces between them. It is somewhat evident the student relied on direct observation.	Excellent All of the objects are proportionally correct in reference to each other and the background. Work illustrates sensitivity to spaces between and around objects. It is evident that the student rendered the drawing by carefully studying the hand/objects.
Shading and Shape	Fair Few of the objects are shaded and most of the objects do no reflect the actual contours of the objects.	Good Objects are shaded and most of the objects reflect actual contour of objects. Evidence of 3-4 values.	Excellent Varied value range of darks, highlights, and mid tones, and all of the objects reflect the actual shape. Uses shading to create edges and lines, instead of drawing the line
Craftsmanship The work is well crafted.	Fair The amount of stray marks, smudges, or paper imperfections detracts from the overall appearance of the lettering.	Good A few stray marks or smudges are evident but do not greatly distract from the overall appearance of the lettering.	Excellent Presentation of the work is done at a high level of detail.
