Well Done

The article/source submitted is relevant and from a valid source; is pertinent to any content covered in class. Content may be simple or brief.
Good Work

The article is from a substandard source, or the topic has limited relevance for Social Science. This may be an editorial and not a news story.
Poor

The article/source chosen has no relevance to current news, history or geography. It may be report on a sporting event or a celebrity "gossip" article, or be dubious in validity.
Citation

Outstanding Work

Article source and other sources are documented using all elements in the proper placement.
Well Done

Article/Source is documented but does not use stated brief format and placement.
Good Work

Article/Source is documented but is missing some elements such as date or the news source.
Poor

Article/Source is not documented.
Summary

Outstanding Work

The summary is written in paragraph form and
contains the 5W's. There should be at least 5 sentences. The main idea of the article is clear and is not plagiarized.
Well Done

The summary paragraphs are written with limited detail or clarity. There may be one or two of the 5-Ws missing and extensive paraphrasing.
Good Work

The summary paragraph is written is lacking in
expressing the main idea, important details, or. clarity. Only one or two of the 5-Ws are included.
Poor

The summary is simply bullet-listed or briefly described or quoted. One or two sentences used.
Response/Application

Outstanding Work

Response includes at least two paragraphs. Historical analysis explains greater context, connections and critical thinking. Opinion/reaction is well supported and include additional citations.
Well Done

Response paragraphs may make valid historical connections and express an opinion with some support.
Good Work

Response is one paragraph. It includes some evidence and reasons.
Poor

Your reaction to the article is one or two sentences and reacts with little support or reasoning.
Conventions

Outstanding Work

Vocabulary is content specific and concise. Work is neat, legible and properly arranged. No errors in conventions.
Well Done

There were few errors in conventions. Paragraphs are properly formatted. Proof reading was evident.
Good Work

Some errors in conventions. Paragraph formatting was inconsistent. May look like a draft.
Poor

Numerous errors. Paragraphs not indented. May be lacking legibility.
