Written Proposal 
A proposal written to a supervisor or purchasing authority in our Business Communications class that includes formatting a brief memo-style document into sections with 1.5 spacing, 1" margins and a data chart showing the comparisons and cost involved in the proposal. Mild research is necessary to complete the background before writing this document.

Solution shows recommended items, and a chart to demonstrate populations and their effect on having the problem solved. Solution also incorporates written justification on how the problem is fully solved. A plan is fully developed to solve the problem, utilizing facts stated.

Costs are listed.

Costs are listed in a tabular format.
Good

Costs are listed in a tabular format with comparisons from three vendors and justified to clarify why a particular solution is the best fit for the budget.
Closing

Poor

Does not summarize, but ends abruptly. Introduces new information as an 'add-on' instead of wrapping up.

Briefly closes, but does not reinforce the positive benefits of adopting the solution mentioned.

Summarizes plan highlights, benefits and urges a decision on the planned solution.
Style of Writing

Incomplete or passive sentences permeate the writing piece. The proposal does not engage the reader. Formalities are absent in the proposal.

Short words are used, but also short sentences. Readers feel a staccato rhythm to the proposal, instead of a harmonious flow of ideas. Sentences use a passive voice, instead of an active tone.
