Technical skills Does the dancer have proper alignment? How good is their technique for their level?	Needs improvement Student fails to demonstrate any sense of musciality.	Fair Student shows very little sense of technique, still has difficulty in pointing the feet in various directions, and body placement is incorrect.	Good Student shows good understanding of technique by pointing of feet and using the body to enhance the movement.	Excellent Student demonstrates excellent use of technique by pointing the feet and arms to perpetuate the musicial accents.
Knowledge of choreography Can the student pick up combinations at a good pace? How well do they handle new material?	Needs improvement Student demonstrates no sense musicality and refuses to learn a combination.	Fair The student has demonstrated basic understanding of learning a dance combination.	Good The student has a good understanding of movement and picking up sequence in a timely matter.	Excellent The student has displayed a superior quality of understanding of picking up the dance in timely matter.
Rhythm Does the student grasp the concept of rhythm?	Needs improvement Student has difficulty "staying on the beat" and shows poor sense of musicality.	Fair Student has difficulty staying on the beat as well as arriving early and late on movement phrases.	Good Student has understanding of movement phrasing by staying on the beat.	Excellent Student has excellent use of musical phasing:stays on beat,explores various movements.
Etiquette Does the student come to class on time, dressed properly, and contribute by listening and behaving?	Needs improvement Student rarely demonstrates proper dance etiquette and proper dress.
