The Five Steps	Poor Student identifies some of the five steps by name, mostly in the correct order	Fair Student identifies all five steps by name, mostly in the correct order	Good Student identifies three steps by name, in the correct order.	Very Good Student identifies four steps by name, in the correct order.	Excellent Student identifies all five steps by name, in the correct order.
Descriptions	Poor Student writes no descriptions for the steps of the writing process.	Fair Student provides descriptions for some steps of the writing process, some are accurate.	Good Student copies the descriptions for all steps of the writing process, most are accurate.	Very Good Student accurately copies the descriptions for all steps of the writing process.	Excellent Student accurately describes the purpose for all steps of the writing process in their own words.
Presentation	Poor Student copies the steps without creating a pattern or illustration; and/or uses no color in the organizer	Fair Student creates a pattern of the steps and illustrates and/or colors the graphic organizer in a neat and attractive way.	Good Student illustrates and colors the graphic organizer in a neat and attractive way.
