Creating Story Problems
	Novice Beginning to demonstrate how to write and present a story problem. 1 pts	Basic Demonstrating some knowledge of how to write and present a story problem. 2 pts	Proficient Demonstrates a complete and accurate understanding of how to write and present a story problem. 3 pts
Story Problem Communicating effectively through math vocabulary terms to convey information.	Novice Story problem is illegible and does not clearly state information or the problem.	Basic Story problem leaves out one or two pieces of information required for solving the problem.	Proficient Story problem is clearly written, giving the reader all information that is required to solve the problem.
Number Sentence Demonstrates ability to write number sentence using correct math operation.	Novice A number sentence was not written to match the story problem.	Basic The number sentence was written clearly but did not match the important information in the problem.	Proficient The number sentence was written clearly during the problem solving presentation and matched the important information in the problem.
Strategy Demonstrates a complete understanding of strategy used.	Novice The strategy used did not match the number sentence used in the problem and did not give the correct answer.	Basic The strategy used did not match the number sentence used in the problem, but still solved the problem correctly.	Proficient The strategy used was clearly explained and matched the number sentence used in the problem.
Communication Effectively and clearly communicates through written story problem.	Novice Information was not presented clearly.	Basic Most information was presented clearly.	Proficient All information was given very clearly so all students could understand.
Creativity Demonstrates the ability to use imagination!	Novice Story was not creative and few pictures were used	Basic Story was somewhat creative and some illustrations used.	Proficient Story was very creative and appropriate illustrations were used.
