Composition Project
	Basic 1 pts	Proficient 2 pts	Advanced 3 pts
Beat (1)	Basic Student had 4 or more syllables not represented by a beat.	Proficient Student had 1-3 syllables with no beat.	Advanced Student used a note to represent each syllable.
Beat (2)	Basic Student used one note value only. (includes rests)	Proficient Student used 2 note values only. (includes rests)	Advanced Student used more than 2 note values, including rests.
Lyrics	Basic Student did not compose a sensible or appropriate poem in couplet form.	Proficient Student composed a sensible poem of less than 4 lines.	Advanced Student composed a sensible poem of 4 lines or more.
Performance	Basic Student performed their work with five or more mistakes.	Proficient Students performed their work with three to four mistakes.	Advanced Students performed their work with two or less mistakes.
