Writing: Adapting Fairy Tales and Folk Tales
SWBAT revisit some of the classics, and reread several versions of the same fairy tales and folk tales from around the world in order to write their own adaptations to some of their favorite tales. The aims to use fairy tales as a vehicle for furthering Achievers’ abilities to write any kind of stories, and give Achievers more practice writing fiction. There will be a focus on rehearsing and planning for stories, paying careful attention to fairy tale language and structure through revising and elaborating, and crafting their own versions of an old tale.
