Jackson Pollock Pollock Blow Painting Students will learn about the artist Jackson Pollock and create a non-objective Pollock drip painting. The second part of the assignment will have students write a persuasive paragraph, arguing whether what Jackson Pollock did was art, or not. Craftsmanship Students will do neat and clean work.	Level 1 Most the painting may be smudged, or (and) too much paint has been applied.	Level 2 May have many smudged ink areas, or (and) some areas of too much paint.	Level 3 Most of the painting is neat, may have only a few smudges.	Level 4 Painting is not smudged.
Colour Choice Students will select colours that compliment one another.	Level 1 The student's colour choice is ineffective. Too many colours may have been used.	Level 2 The student's colour choice is satisfactory. Too many colours or not enough colours may or may not have been used.	Level 3 The student's colour choice is effective. The colours used compliment one another well.	Level 4 The student's colour choice is superb. The colours used compliment one another precisely.
Writing: Response Students will respond to the prompt, is it art?	Level 1 The response does not answer the question. The response provides very limited reasoning to support opinion.	Level 2 The response somewhat answers the question. The response provides some reasoning to support opinion.	Level 3 The response adequately answers the question. The response provides adequate reasoning to support opinion.	Level 4 The response effectively answers the question. The response provides effective reasoning to support opinion.
Writing: Grammar Students will use proper punctuation, spelling, sentence structure in their response.	Level 1 The response has more than five errors with regards to punctuation, spelling, and/or sentence structure.	Level 2 The response has three to five errors with regards to punctuation, spelling, and/or sentence structure.	Level 3 The response has one or two errors with regards to punctuation, spelling, and/or sentence structure.	Level 4 The response has no errors with regards to punctuation, spelling, and/or sentence structure.
