Frisbee Throwing and Catching 
Students will throw and catch a frisbee with thier partner to complete the assessment.

Forehand Grip

Student makes a peace sign, then turn had so palm is up.
Hang frisbee on peace sign
Hold frisbee with peace sign, closed along inside rim and thumb on outside/top. Curl the rest of the fingers into the palm
Elbow in(but not tight) palm up face target
Step toward target with same foot you hold the frisbee with, snap wrist and finters on followthrough
Keep palm up throughout throw

Student demonstrates some understanding of how to hold a frisbee and passing it. They hold the frisbee correct but they forget to snap their wrist on the follow through

Student demonstrates a complete understanding of how to hold and pass a frisbee. They have the fingers in the right place and snap on the follow through
Pivot

Grips the frisbee in the forehand grip.
Right hand throwers left foot slightly forward left handed opposite
Fake forehand throw, quickly slide or move right foot in front of body, while changing to a backhand grip. (oppostie for lefty)
If there is no open passing lane, reverse the action to original position and regrip in a forehand grip.

Student demonstrates some understanding of the pivot and passing of the frisbee. They hold the frisbee correct the wrong foot is forward.

Student demonstrates a complete understanding of how to pivot and pass a frisbee. They have the left foot slightly forward and change grip to backhand grip.
Backhand Throw

Hold frisbee with hand you write with.
Index finger along the edge, thumb on top and the other three fingers holding the edge of the disc.
Shoulder of the hand you are throwing with should face your target.
Bring the disc towards the body by curling the throwing arm makeing sure to keep the disc level.
Extend the arm and snap at the wrist while stepping towards your target with your foot. Step with the same foot that you have the disc in.

Student demonstrates some understanding of the bakhand throw. They hold the frisbee correct but do not tuck the frisbee nor do they step with the correct foot.

Student demonstrates a complete understanding of how to throw the backhand throw. They grip the frisbee correctly and they tuck the frisbee under their arm. They step with the correct foot
Hammer Throw (overhand)

Hold the frisbee with forehand grip.
Face target, frisbee over shoulder like you are throwing a football.
Throw high and hard, step forward with opposite foot. Snap wrist, follow throguh.
Defensive player is always between player
Hold frisbee at a slightly more than 90 degree angle.
Right handers throw slightly to the right of your receiver, so the frisbee curves to the receiver.

Student seems very confused on how to throw the Hammer throw. They can not get the grip correct and do not step with the correct foot. They can't get the frisbee to the right side of the receiver.
Developing

Student demonstrates some understanding of the Hammer throw. They hold the frisbee correct but do not step with opposite foot, they don't hold the frisbee at 90 degree angle. The toss is at the target or to the left.
Proficent

Student demonstrates a complete understanding of how to throw the Hammer throw. They grip the frisbee correctly and step with opposite foot, they also hold at 90 degree angle. Toss is slightly to the right of the receiver
