INTRODUCTION	Exceeding Standards Clever hook; helpful background material; clear, unique thesis at the end, title and author mentioned	Meeting Standards Definite opening statement, clear intro to subject; adequate background material; clear thesis statement	Approaching Standards One of the items (attention getter, background, or thesis) is weak or missing.	Below Standards Two or more of the items in the introduction are weak or missing.
BODY CONTENT	Exceeding Standards 3 or more strong, main points; 3-4 well-explained details fr. stories(facts, quotes, situations,characters) for each main point	Meeting Standards 3 definite main points; 1-3 details adequately explained for each main point; makes sense	Approaching Standards Low on main points or details; parts may be repeated or incorrect; some parts may not make sense	Below Standards Too short; few or no details from stories; written quickly, without care; does not make sense
