Student references the text directly by indicating specific incidents and passages. The textual support is a superior example that promotes the increased understanding of the topic.

Student is present in the circle, but does not engage in the conversation.

The student offers some information to the fishbowl, but is regularly interupted, distracted, and weak.

The student offers quality information and thoughts regarding the idea. The information offered by the student spurs some additional conversation amongst the group.

Student is a driving force in the conversation by asking developed questions and creative ideas.
Interaction

Poor

Student does not maintain eye contact with other group members. Student frequently interupts or talks over another student. Student addresses teacher or outer circle for the answer.
Fair

Student exhibits some positive body language. Student will talk, but does not address any person.
Good

Student maintains eye contact and positive body language. Students usually address other group members.
Excellent

Student maintains excellent eye contact and body language. Students address other members of the group specifically. Students respect and welcome the ideas of other members in their group.
