Uses some appropriate music vocabulary correctly.
Mastery

Demonstrates a rich music vocabulary related to the topic. Uses terms to support thesis.
Organization

Ordering of introduction, main points, and conclusion

Unacceptable

Poorly organized. Ideas jump from one to another without coherence or transitions.
Acceptable

Content is mostly organized, but some re-ordering would strengthen thesis or readability.
Mastery

Thesis and supporting points are presented in an organized manner. Transitions make the writing easy to read and follow the main points.
Format

Follow style (MLA or APA) rules, including citing sources within the paper

Unacceptable

Does not follow an appropriate research writing style. Does not cite sources correctly.
Acceptable

Follows a research style. Spacing and margins are correct. Contains one or two mistakes, such as a format error in a Works Cited entry or an incorrect heading.
Mastery

All headings, margins, spacing, Works Cited and citations within the body of the paper are done correctly.
Correctness

Grammar, punctuation, spelling

Unacceptable

Two or more spelling errors. Incorrect usage. Incomplete sentences and run-on sentences.
Acceptable

Mostly well-written. Contains one or two spelling errors or typos, sentence construction problem, or punctuation mistake.
Mastery

Excellent usage and spelling. Good writing technique adds to the arguments.
