Beowulf: Interpretation of Text and Archetypes
Part A: Students write an interpretation of Beowulf from student-created text messages, using academic language and adapting texts to "invent" quotations. Part B: Using Archetype Colour Wheels, students select Beowulf two characters, identify and describe their archetypes, then compare each to a contemporary character from a book, television show or movie.

Part A: Students work in pairs to do a close reading of a section of Seamus Heaney's Beowulf, then create a text message string between two characters in modern language, while maintaining the theme and overall development of the poem.
