My Country Project
The purpose of this unit is to facilitate student learning about the world in which we live. Students will receive a 'My Country' packet to complete. The student will pretend that he/she is going to visit their assigned country for 8-10 days and will make round trip travel arrangements to and from their assigned country. To be prepared for the trip, the student will use technology to conduct internet research in order to be able to answer questions about their assigned country’s resources, culture, government, religion, geography, political atmosphere, social events, recreational pastimes, history, economics, etc. After the student has gathered all of the research, they will synthesize the information and write a report about their country and then create a power point presentation to go with their report.

International Travel Project

Nonfiction Unit- Reporting Live on a Natural Disaster
Students will present in groups a news broadcast of a natural disaster that they have researched. They will provide specific facts and details, show an understanding of logical and chronological order through the sequence of events. The presentation should show creativity, organization, equal group member participation.

Digital Collage
Produce a digital collage on a letter size page collecting 10-15 pictures from the internet that reflect your personal interests e.g. - sport, music, entertainment. Be aware of pixels in images. You must show evidence that learning the photoshop software has taken place. Also keep in mind that all the images that you will be using should be royalty-free or should have the Creative Commons rights for usage.

Matilda: A Story Board
Students in this project must take their knowledge of Matilda, from their Language Arts class, and apply it to art. Students will be creating a story board of Matilda, by Ronald Dahl, using pencils, paper, crayons, markers, string and poster board. Students must use their imaginations to show Matilda's 'powers,' and their pictures to facilitate Dahl's novel in a new way.

Students gathered data and entered the sample data into an Excel spreadsheet then created a bar graph to reflect the results. Students were guided through the process once and then worked independently to create a graph that was unique in color, texture and style for the sample data.
