This rubric will be used to score an argumentative essay.

This rubric is for evaluating argument essays and the ability to formulate argumentative writings. You read 3 articles in class and used a template to write your argument. The assignment is to write a 5- paragraph argument, including a counter argument.

Students will understand that Native Americans were the first inhabitants in North America, will compare cultures of Native Americans tribes from various geographic regions of the U.S., Identify terms and designations of time sequences and examine primary and secondary sources. Essential Question: How were the Native Americans an important part of our history? What influences do Native Americans have on us today? Formal assessment for understanding: Who were the first people to live in North America? How are the Cherokee and Pueblo tribes the same? How are the Cherokee and Pueblo tribes different?

This is designed to help critique peer writings.

Students are to include: Title of their book, Three facts about their author, three facts about the illustrator, a summary (using SGM format) of their book, tell their favorite part, include 5 vocabulary words and definitions, book review and include a formal book review on barnes and noble.com

Students will create a presentation for the class that will cover a significant person in U.S. History.
