“Celebrating Untold Stories and Contributions of Hispanic Americans in Florida”

Student will create and present a family tree using pictures of their family on a poster board or PowerPoint presentation. The pictures need to be described with information provided in the rubric. It will include their family members and may include their pets. Also, one picture and description should be you! They will introduce themselves and describe the family members in their family tree in Spanish. If student lives with other relatives other than parents, show connection. If student does not live with family members, indicate their roles. PowerPoint will be posted to schoology.com.

-Developing research skills using the internet- Destination: “Hispanic Heritage Vacation Package" is a research project with and the cultural theme: Hispanic Heritage and a geographical focus. You will develop a "Hispanic Heritage Vacation Package" for a customer with specific interests (issued in class) for their 2011 Christmas Vacation. Your vacation package will be persuasive and informative in nature. Your customer will learn about the customs/traditions, cuisines, demographics, currency/exchange rate, historical monuments/places and helpful travel and safety tips (maps included) on a country, city or island of Hispanic Heritage. Create a menu for a HISPANIC cafe or restaurant. Must create a SPANISH name for the restaurant or cafe. Should include foods, beverages, and appropriate prices in THE CURRENCY OF THE COUNTRY ASSIGNED. Correct grammar is a must. The student will include; (4) four appetizers, (6) six entrees, and (4) four desserts. The menu must be creative and well done. You can use a poster, a power point presentation, a booklet, paper plates, etc. These are just some ideas. Discuss with your teacher about it. You will select the country that you want to work on. In order to do that, the teacher will pass around a list with the countries names. You have to make a research about food, currency and other important information. You should cite the sources and bibliography of those information.

Rubric to evaluate a post card project.

Create a 5-day travel itinerary in Spanish, the destination is Costa Rica. You will act as a travel agent and use the itinerary to suggest flight information, lodging information, locations and descriptions, and typical foods. Include information about fun things to do, things to pack(optional), and pictures of suggested places to visit. The itinerary will include the use of direct and indirect object pronouns in Spanish.

Students will create and present a recipe on how to make a dish. The dish must have a minimum of 5 ingredients and 5 steps involved in making the recipe. All ingredients and steps must be typed neatly and turned in on the day of the presentation. Due Date: April 17

Research and prepare a French dish to be shared. Provide a list of ingredients in French ), provide the quantities in French, provide the recipe directions in French (use imperative form of verbs and partitive articles)

Research a recipe and prepare it for the class. You will present it to the class explaining in Spanish why you chose to make the particular recipe and how you did it. You will be responsible for obtaining the ingredients for the recipe (you may choose to collect money or buy on your own; if you collect money, you must provide receipts and then divide equally including yourselves). In addition, each group will be responsible for cleaning up.

1. Find a Hispanic recipe that looks good or interesting. 2. Make the recipe. 3. Write down in Spanish steps of how to make the recipe. 4. Bring your creation to class. 5. Present/explain the food in Spanish with a description and how to make the food. Then share.
