Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the historical, sociological, and cultural background of the argument issue, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, content, grammar and mechanics, and the Works Cited page

Short Story Presentation that evaluates the following areas: 1. The effect the author's life and times and how it impacted the literature. 2. The summary of the plot of the story. 3. The analysis of literary techniques used in the work. 4. The quality of the powerpoint/poster used in the presentation. 5. The quality of the oral presentation. 6. The preparedness of the presentation. 7. The timeliness of the assignment.

Students are asked to study and analyze the visual (advertisement) using rhetorical techniques with reference to course material as appropriate.

Students will find an advertisement from the Internet, newspaper, or magazine and provide a detailed review.

Using Spectrum as an inspiration, students create a collection of original poetry based on a chosen theme.

This essay is the first building block of the argument research paper due at the end of the term.
