Select a sport or physical activity that your group would like to study. Choose a sport you can actually play or observe. Use direct observations and measurements to explore the dynamics or physics involved in this sport.

I use this rubric to grade students' work on their balancing chemical equations video project for chemistry.

In this project you will investigate the chemistry of common household products. You are responsible to do: • Choose one personal hygiene product • Choose one household cleaning product • Use (http://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov/index.htm) to research any two ingredients from each product (total of 4 chemicals) to do the following: o Determine the empirical formula o Determine its use or purpose o Determine its chemical and physical properties. o Determine any hazards or cautions associated with the ingredient. • Create a self-contained presentation of your research. Your display must include the following components: o An esthetically pleasing appearance o The title “Household Chemistry…” & creative sub-title. • Pictures of your products • An introduction. This should be a written paragraph introducing the idea that chemistry is instrumental in the development and improvement of many of the products that we use every day.

Students will create a foldable to organize the steps of the scientific method.

Your project is to prove your knowledge of how forces affect motion by explaining how they work in your favorite activity or sport. You will also be required to solve problems that have to do with various sports or activities. *This will be done on poster board or on sheets of 8” X 11” paper as a booklet.

Create a poster to educate your class about a specific drug or poison. You must include: *The classification of the drug. *Its actual name and any known street names. The chemical formula or chemical symbol *State if it is a drug or a poison *How it affects your body *What is the lethal dose? *What tests are used to detect the substance? *Is this substance a controlled substance? Is it legal with a prescription? *Please include at least two references/sources

Create a poster to educate your class about a specific drug. You must include the classification of the drug, its actual name and any known street names, how it affects your body & mind, its level of addictiveness, where it is found, what it looks like, why anyone might want to take it, a list of similar drugs and any other information that you think may be useful. In addition, a creative anti-drug slogan is to be included in your project.

Students create a book of science terms that have been studied over the semester to help review for their midterm.

This rubric is used to grade a presentation about the chemical nature of a selected legal or illegal drug.

Create a board game that reflects aspects of the physical science material we have covered. Your board game can be based on one that is already in existence such as Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit. The final project should include connections between the notes and other real world.

A research project on how chemistry has impacted and improved our lives.

In this project, you will be creating a poster to demonstrate your knowledge of deriving chemical formulas. Your group must create a poster showing how to determine empirical and molecular formulas. Below is a list of what should be included on the poster. • Title of your project • Reaction type (may be included in the title) • Example of a reaction with a balanced equation • Picture of a reaction • What patterns allow you to identify the reaction from a chemical equation • A detailed description of the reaction • 2 examples not used in any of the above requirements

Directions: 2. Write clear, simple instructions on how to balance a chemical reaction, using at least one reaction as an example. 3. Include a minimum of 3 chemical equations total. 4. You should use one of your equations for the viewer to solve (hide answers in a flip-up, etc.). 5. Check the lists to make sure that you aren’t duplicating someone else reactions.. 6. Include the balanced answers to all of the equations. 7. Attach this sheet to the back of your poster.
