SAM Cultural Dance Solo/Group Assignment
Students will be producing a solo or group dance based on cultural theme/song. The elements of dance should be used to enhance their performance. The dance can be a traditional cultural dance, an adaption of a cultural dance or a combination of various cultural dance or a completely original dance based on one or several cultures.

Jazz Dance History Group Presentations
For each of the 4 presented jazz dance figures (Jerome Robbins,Katherine Dunham,Fred Astaire,Jack Cole), each group will prepare a presentation over one figure that answers the following questions: Q1: Where did he/she train? What styles or genres of dance? Q2: What is he/she known for? Specific shows or movies? Q3: Describe his/her style of dance. Q4: Was he/she a choreographer, a performing dancer, or both? Q5: What kind of impact did he/she have on the dance community, or our society?

You need to have a minimum of 8 slides included in the video/presentation.You should also cite your information either with a slide or video of resources. Presentations of Slide Shows and videos will start on September 11. All projects should contain relevant information on the person including background, style of jazz, examples or description of choreographic style and specific performances and choreographical works. Worth 100 points as test grade for unit.

Jazz/Broadway Dance Unit Project
A power point or video presentation rubric for Jazz/Broadway. You need to have a minimum of 10 slides or 10 specific facts included in the video.You should also sight your info on presentation either with a slide or video of resources. Presentations of Slide Shows and videos will start on November 8. Pick a Jazz or Broadway dancer/choreographer from the early or modern eras. All project should contain relevant information on the person including background, style of jazz, examples or description of choreographic style and specific performances and choreographical works. Only one person per jazz dancer/choreographer. Worth 100 points as test grade for unit.

World Dance Unit on South Africa
Dance students will perform a chosen dance from our world dance unit and perform in front of the class. They will begin the presentation with a brief introduction about the dance. The students should explain the title of the dance, what country it is from, why it is performed and what the dancers wear in the dance. After the introduction the dance students will perform this world dance with knowledge of the steps and performance quality.
