Science Fair Grading Rubric 2012

Students are to use their previous knowledge of perfect squares and right triangles to prove the Pythagorean theorem

You (and your lab partner) will create 3-D models of common molecules to help you better understand the different types of bonds that are formed between atoms.

You (and your lab partner) will use the number of valence electrons in order to help you identify seven (7) common elements.

You will be creating an animal from your imagination. Give it a scientific name and describe its characteristics and functions. You must describe the animals living environment, its eating habits, its survival techniques, and how the animal functions in the world. You will describe what group it belongs to and why they think it belongs in that category. Optional: You will also provide a detailed drawing of your animal

In this project, you will be creating a poster to demonstrate your knowledge of the classification taxon you selected. Below is a list of what should be included on the poster. • Name of taxon • Its place in the Linnaen classification system • Sketches or downloaded pictures of organisms found in your taxon • The meaning of the Greek or Latin root words for your taxon • Any other interesting information but not so much as to make your poster look cluttered

The students will put together a poster for display. The poster will contain relevant information directly related to the theme of Healthy Relationships. The poster will be designed on poster board (1/2 or full-sized poster board).

The students will work with a partner to create a tree map that accurately shows three major domains, the basic characteristics of organisms in the domain and examples. The tree map should include the following elements: the three (3) major domains, the basic characteristics common to organisms found in that domains, and drawing/sketches of organisms found in domain. The tree map must show two (2) examples from each kingdom found in Domain Eukarya.

Student will create 3-D models of an atom representative of the four major atomic scientists. Each model will include the correct type of subatomic particles. All of the procedure points MUST be included.
