Rubric to use to evaluate Reading Response Journals

Students are to participate and respond analytically to theme questions. Participation and responses are completed in class and scored for understanding. Level 2 and 1 scores must conference with teacher.

1. Select an appropriate biography or autobiography on your reading level. 2. Read the book. 3. Use the outline sample to record important information about your person. Reread the text as needed. 4. Prepare a 3-5 minute speech or monologue about your person. You will either talk about him/her or "become" him/her. 5. Present the speech or monologue to your class on your given presentation date. Make sure to be creative and include props and/or a costume.

Research the approved topic. Submit 3-5 typed pages of publishing the results of your research. Include a Works Cited page with at least 4 sources used researching the paper. Paper will be graded on quality of research, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, and relevance of included information. Grade will be based on organization, clarity, use of transitions, appropriate voice, correct citation format, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
