A rubric for evaluating student's research bibliographies.

Brief Outline of Research Paper based on the CRLS Research Guide Outline Maker

The student will put together a PowerPoint presentation to show during the oral presentation of his/her research paper. If the class is "online" the student will send PowerPoint via course site.

This rubric will be used in class to allow you to monitor your own progress and behavior during class time. How are you doing in class?

The student will respect rights and feelings of others; accept responsibility; follow class and school rules; cooperate with others; use time wisely; follow directions; demonstrate organizational skills; exhibit positive attitude; and complete assignments on time.

This will be completed by each student and turned in on Friday. On the margin, assess yourself for each of the following classes: Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health, BrainWaker time, end-of-day, and your specials. This will be a part of your participation grade.

Familiarize yourselves with existing research and theoretical writings pertinent to your topic. Find the best empirical (data-based) article you can that addresses this topic. Describe the article you reviewed, its methods and findings, strengths and weaknesses. Make recommendations for further refining research in this area, including concrete suggestions (e.g., additional theoretical considerations, highlighting relevance of group-specific variables or alternative measures for key constructs) for a possible replication and extension of the study you review.
