Plaster Carving
You will build a replica of the plaster piece you currently have in the Student show at the Frick Center. You can use the same tools that you used before (such as the power sander) to finish the piece. You can also use some of the dried plaster blocks in the studio to carve from, this should save time for you. This piece must be done in the sculpture studio while I (Dustan Creech) am in the building. You can schedule time with me to meet with you out side of class as well. This piece is due May 19th

Ceramic Sculpture, "Constructing a Conflict"
You will build a sculpture out of clay that makes conceptual references to some type of conflict. This conflict sculpture (War Memorial) can be any altercation, or disagreement, it doesn't have to be about military warfare.

Found Object Assemblage (Social Commentary)
You will build a sculpture out of Found Objects and pre-existing items. You will Assemble these items together using the techniques that you learned in the first two assignments. This piece will revolve around the theme of a Social Commentary.

The Armature (Steel Rods) #1
You will build a sculptural form out of Steel Rods, creating the contour of the object. You will use a mig-welder to weld the rods together. You will also learn to use a ring roller and a vise, a plasma cutter and a angle grinder.

Relief Printing - Woodblock/Woodcut
You will design and cut a woodblock, using traditional wood cutting tools, to use as a relief printing plate. You will learn the benefits of cross-hatching for modeling and shading, and the use of pattern to differentiate between areas of the composition.

Sculpting with Line (Wood)
You will build a sculptural form out of wooden dowel rods, creating the contour of the object. You will use hot-glue to attach the rods together.
