You are to create a bookmark for your favorite book

A vision board is a visual collage of the things that you want to have, be,or do in your life.It consists of a poster with cut-out pictures,drawings and writing on it of the things that you want in yourlifeor the things that you want to become.The purpose is to activate the law of attraction to begin to pull things from your external environment that will enable you to realize your dream.By selecting images/words that charge your emotions w/passion,you will manifest those things into your life.

Students will find and write about three specific examples to compare and contrast in a piece of literature. Students must tell why their example compares and contrasts.

Dana, Ebenezer Scrooge, & Dr. Beckett have some how crossed paths while time traveling. Dr. Beckett is trying to get to his next destination, Dana is still confused about how she is able to move to and from time periods, and Ebenezer Scrooge is frightened about where his next destination will lead him. Create a script between these three characters that details the advice that each character could lend to the other, based on their “time travelling” experiences.

Group Presentation/Skit for the benefits of showing comprehension of characters, their motivations and actions.

Compare/Contrast Paragraph scoring rubric. Moon Group: “Quantum Leap”, A Christmas Carol, and Kindred focus on the concept of time traveling. Based on your reading from the novel, and the articles read in class, what similarities and differences have you discovered between these texts? Students will create a dialogue writing that will compare and contrast the two mediums of John Steinbeck's The Pearl; novel vs. film.

Create two story boards; one for Kindred and the other using “Quantum Leap” or A Christmas Carol. • In the first row of boxes (top) draw or use a collage of images that display the five major events that have occurred in Kindred so far (from Chapter 4). SWBAT compose an invitation to Prince Prospero's Masquerade ball. Based on the information in the novel, what would your invitation include? Who is invited to this ball? What images would you include based on the details from the story?

The purpose of this rubric is to allow the students to know what the expectations are for writing a comparing/contrasting essay. The student will compare and contrast the short story "The Tell Tale Heart" to the movie of the same name. In preparation for this assignment, the student will have had instruction in the writing process, sentence structure, capitalization, end marks, specific vocabulary words, read the book and viewed the movie. Students will also have had instruction using technology i.e., word processing and power point. This can also be used for older students who lack the appropriate skills to write this type of essay.

Rubric for journal/letter assignment from the mind of Madeline Usher to Roderick Usher or Philip Winthrop, or from Philip Winthrop to Madeline Usher

Write a letter to the nearby psychiatric hospital explaining why you feel that Roderick Usher needs to be admitted to their facility. Remember to correctly use and punctuate all the parts of the letter.

The students will create an original classified ad poster for the House of Usher. The poster will contain information that the students have garnered from their reading and screening of short story and film based on Edgar Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher".

Students are writing memoirs about a signifcant or favorite place that is special to them

Students will create a comic strip/images based on an important scene or event from Chapter 9 - "Casi Senorita", in When I Was Puerto Rican

Students are to create a gossip column/ news flash piece based on events in chapter 9 - "Casi Senorita", or leading up to the events up to chapter 9. This writing piece should include a full report of an event, or events. You may add additional creative items such as pictures, etc.

Chapter 1 ("Jibaro") & chapter 2 ("Fighting Naked") in When I Was Puerto Rican focuses on the idea of love of community, but also delves into the issues of disloyalty within the family and in the community. Make note of those passages where these issues are discussed, and think about the words, lines, and phrases that you think project strong images and show the impact this chapter (s) makes. In addition, think about the information that you read from the passage "Jibaro History". Are there ideas in the text similar or different from your ideas about a Jibaro, or about your ideas about community? Your mission: Choice A: Look up a poem based on the life of a Jibaro and then compose a paragraph with your interpretation of what the poem means. Choice B: Create a poem of your own that centers on the concept of a Jibaro lifestyle, or one that describes your own ideas about your community or disloyalty within the community.
