Book Jacket Report
Student will design a dust jacket based on the book they have read. 40-33=A, 32-25=B, 24-17=C, 16-9=D, Less than 9=F. Reports lose 10 points for each day late. Rubric must be attached, or it will be considered late. Due December 14, 2009.

Book Report - Written Response to Independent Reading
This book report will contain multiple paragraphs and will be limited to one page. Student name, date and block should appear in upper right corner of the page. First: The report should include the title and author of the book and a complete description of the main characters. Second: Descriptive Settings should be included (When and where did the story takes place?). Third: The main events should be included (What happened in the story?). Fourth: Why did you like or dislike the book? Fifth: Would you recommend this book to other sixth graders. Sixth: The report should include a summary of the author's overall message and/or the theme of the book. 56-50=A, 49-43=B, 42-35=C, Less than 35=D

This summary will contain multiple paragraphs. First: Title, author and a complete discription of at least 3 - 4 characters. Second: Descriptive Settings (Where did the story take place?) Third: The main events in order (What happened in the story?) Fourth: Why did you like or dislike the book. Fifth: Would or would you not you recommend this book to others in the classroom. 20-18=A, 17-16=B, 15-14=C, 13-12=D

Social Skills Behavior and Participation
This rubric will be used to evaluate how a student works and participates during activities (work, class, meeting, assembly, etc.). I have purposely weighted each criteria this way as I believe this rubric will be fairer to the lower level students that are trying to participate rather than those that are largely unresponsive in class - Fair = 3 and Poor = 1
